Shooting Targets

If there’s one thing a gun lover can always use more of its ammo and shooting targets.
Since you might not know what caliber they are shooting (or if you do click here), you can’t go wrong with targets that easily show where you’ve shot them.
Tactical Stocking

A little lols for the holiday…although I do *hat-tip* the person who first thought of tactical stockings. Multicam all the way for me.
Real Bullet Cufflinks

I gave bullet cufflinks to my groomsmen as part of their gift box. Guaranteed to get lots of remarks at the next social event.
There’s a couple variation but unless your gun lover has really large wrists, I would stay away from shotgun shell (12 gauge) cufflinks.
Ammo Cans
Prices accurate at time of writing
Prices accurate at time of writing
Everyone can use more ammo cans to hold small accessories and…ammo.
I like the size of the .50 Caliber ammo can shown above. But you can also opt for the smaller .30 Caliber ($19) can too.
There are some genuine used ones out there but I’ve found those are a crapshoot…you might end up with a smelly rusty one.
Blowout Kit

Hopefully, something that is never used…but it’s always good to have a blowout/trauma kit in your range bag. Has “Quikclot” to aid in blood clotting and comes in a small sealable bag.
Combo it with a Compression Bandage and Tourniquet to take care of the most serious injuries.
Tactical Ugly Sweaters

I’m totally getting this AR-15 sweater ($20) if there’s an ugly sweater event. Make sure to read the reviews since it seems some “sweaters” are more like t-shirt material.
Cleaning Mat

Does your special someone like to clean their guns?
TekMats lets them do it in style and protects surfaces from cleaning solutions and powder gunk.
There’s different diagrams for specific guns so they get disassembly correct…or more generic ones if you don’t know what they are packin’.

Ok…it doesn’t look like much…but it’s one of the most precious things you can have in your range bag.

If you’ve ever been to the range with normal earmuffs or those pesky foam things…you know it’s hard to hear other people talking.
“HUH?!?” you loudly scream?
These electronic earmuffs amplify normal sounds while still cutting off gunshots. There’s a reason its 10k+ reviews with 4.5 stars.

It’s like giving cashmere-lined leather gloves for the holidays…except not.
My favorite pair is the SKD Alpha since it is catered towards the trigger finger with different material and a dual joint. Oh…and it’s touch-screen enabled.

Everybody can use a handy knife…even if it’s to just slay some Amazon boxes.
And my go-to affordable option is the Kershaw Leek.
Super sharp, enough heft to feel quality, fast flip-out, and not the worst feeling in the world if you misplace it.
GOAT Guns Miniature Replicas
GOAT Guns might be the easiest way to get a .50 Cal sniper rifle!
Most of them are full metal and work pretty close to real steel versions. Check out our full review of their other models.

Tactical Watches

The Suunto Core (Black on Black) came highly recommended and it’s what I’ve worn for the past five years.
I love the look and the measurements it can take (altimeter, barometer, compass, temperature). The downside is that the black on black can sometimes be hard to read and I’ve had to replace the battery every year.
Or for something less tactical…the Casio PRW-3000 ($180). Check out the rest in our Best Tactical Watches.

Great list. I got the Uplula mag loader for my son for Christmas.
Nice list! I may have to get that coffee cup! :-) But so you know, if you didn't already, Maglula doesn't ship or sell to Amazon. Many, if not most (all?), of the Maglula auto-loaders on Amazon (and other discount houses) are cheap Chinese counterfeit. Not only do they represent intellectual property theft from a really cool company they are also poorly machined. The Maglula website has a list of companies they do direct business with.
Thanks for the heads up on the potential "scam" with Amazon selling bogus Maglula loaders. I don't do any shopping on Amazon anymore. I've had my credit card info stolen twice now thru Amazon. They send an apology notice but that doesn't help clean up the mess you are left with after you have been compromised. Plenty of other sellers out there that appreciate my business.
Pretty great list, but I would have to pass on the AR BALLS! They would have a negative impact on your shot if they started swing! I hate it when that happens! Yes to the rest!
You have supplied a great list. Possibly add some specialty ammo?
Have you all ever done a review on a GLOCK 34? If so could you republish it, if not would you be so kind as to perform a review for us all? Thanks
I just read (below) that I had responded 11 months ago suggesting "Sportsman's Guide" for targets. Things sure have changed with their offers this past year. Not so many free S/H opportunities and now they don't offer free S/H on optics or ammo. #1 reason I was a member, since 2013, was for the free S/H on ammo purchases over $25 or $49. One of the few places I could find Geco 55gr. 5,56 ammo in bulk besides SGAmmo. This year I discovered "Swab-It" foam cleaning swabs and bore cleaners (threaded plastic jag with foam covering all but the threads). Midway USA and Brownell's offers a variety and so does my local gun shop. I ordered a bunch of different caliber sizes (come in 5, 6 or 24, 36 packs) along with their AR chamber/M4 ramp cleaning swab. That and the (new to me) "Otis" pull rope, which allows attachment of a bronze brush, bore mop or the caliber specific Swab-It to pull thru the bore from the breach end. That will come in handy when cleaning the barrel of my single shot Henry .223 I purchased earlier this fall. I'm always looking for a better, more efficient way, to clean my firearms. Always nice to see the new products that come out and which ones can make your shooting experience more fun, safe or efficient.
Optics Planet has become my go-to for Firearm accessories. You can always find a coupon code for X% off, or free shipping. What's more is you can use your Amazon account for payment, so Amazon gift cards can be used as well.
Cool, didn't know about the Amazon account for payment!
Another interesting & informative article. I'd suggest "Sportsman's Guide" for "Shoot-N-See" targets and ammo cans. They have the best pricing anywhere and frequently offer free S/H. There's a (optional) yearly membership fee of $39.99. They give you back $20 in coupons after joining. Been a member since 2013. I've saved hundreds of dollars a year on their lower (membership) prices plus free S/H. Example: $13.49 (on sale from $17.49) for qty. 100 6" dia. "Shoot-n-See" targets or qty. 50 8" dia. or qty. 25 12" dia. targets. They're ammo prices are hard to beat too.
Thanks Jeff! I used them for a while but had a very poor experience with a recent FFL buy so I've stopped.
Did they handle something poorly? I l've used them almost exclusively for the last two years. I've never had any issues, but I'd like to know if there's anything I should be wary of.
I just also want to thank you and the other writers for the wonderful articles! This blog was the perfect intro to the world of guns and shooting, especially for someone who grew up in NYC. Keep up the great work!
You're so welcome, James!
"EDC scene"? Lol
2 guns, 3 lights, 3 knives MINIMUM /s
On person?
I don't carry 2 guns, 3 lights, and 3 knives simultaneously, but I do have more than that in my EDC kit. I can adapt my kit for my needs for the day. Firearms (and their accessories) are tools. Different tools are needed for different tasks.
Lol, sorry guys I forgot to put my sarcasm /s indicator! Poking fun at all the pocket dumps of so much stuff. Joe's got it right, though!
Eric, I love your blog and your posts. Great work. I read every one of them. For some reason, the product photos are not loading on this post when I view it on my iPhone. Just thought you might like to know. It renders just fine on my desktop using Safari. This has happened on others posts as well. You do a GREAT job! David
Hey David, thanks! You'll need to refresh or clear your cache. We're switching servers to get ready for a new site redesign that will come out in ~2 weeks and there's been some weird stuff going on with images disappearing.
Great list buddy.
Thanks Ben!
Merry Christmas Eric.
