If I’ve preached about dry-fire training once, I’ve done it a thousand times. Getting ammo-free reps is the quickest way to improve your shooting.
You can get a lot of work done without spending a cent, but there are some handy dry-fire tools that can help you get more value out of your training time.
The latest is the Mantis TitanX. I got my hands on one of the first Titanx training pistols to leave the factory, so come see what I learned!

At launch time, there are three models of the TitanX. These simulate the Glock 19, Glock 17, and Glock 45 in look and feel. Aside from being loaded with a battery and a laser instead of ammo, they’re extremely close to the real thing.

That means you aren’t just building muscle memory that’s transferable to your pistol, you can also get reps with your holster.
I run my TitanX with various IWB holsters, chest holsters, and off-body-carry bags. When I want to do low-light training, I can mount up the same pistol light I use on my CCW setup.

The TitanX is also optic-ready. I don’t move my carry optic from platform to platform, but I have enough red dots in my inventory that I was able to install something similar on the TitanX.
We have lots of recommendations if you need to buy a new pistol red dot for your TitanX, just make sure it’s compatible with the RMR, RMS, or RMSc footprint. There are some really affordable options out there.

If you use your pistol’s iron sights, you can zero the TitanX laser to get accurate hits with the laser pistol’s irons and get realistic training without a red dot.
In the hand, the TitanX feels like a real pistol. The shape, weight, and placement of the controls is spot-on. Being able to run drills and rattle off shots without racking the slide every time is a huge step up from regular dry fire.
The two magazines that come with the system are properly weighted, and the pistol senses them for realistic magazine-change drills.

And you don’t need to mess with a shot timer. The TitanX is compatible with the Mantis Rifle/Pistol app, which opens up a world of data and training aids to improve your shooting. Get real-time insights and track your progress over time.
Sensors inside the TitanX detect orientation and trigger input, so you don’t need fancy targets to get usable data. Any paper bullseye, cardboard silhouette, or light switch will work.
When you’re done training, plug in the USB-C cord and top off the battery for next time.
After some time with the TitranX, I only see two drawbacks. One is a lack of recoil; you’ll still have to work on that at the range or spend the big bucks for a CoolFire training system. Check out our CoolFire review for the full scoop on that!
Keep in mind that the TitanX is essentially a trigger-training tool, not an all-purpose inert pistol. The slide does not reciprocate to simulate clearing malfunctions and I probably wouldn’t beat it up in combatives training.

The other is the limited range of supported pistols. Fortunately, if you don’t see yours, you can let Mantis know because more models are on the way.
Mantis lists an MSRP of $199 for the TitanX.
