Beretta has been riding its 92-series product line for decades. For some, it’s a classic that manages to keep up with the times. For cynics, it looks like life support. Either way, you can’t deny that this pistol has staying power.
The newest incarnation of the 92 is here. Let’s see what the Beretta 92X RDO Inox brings to the table.

Like other X-marked Berettas, this one comes with a host of factory upgrades over the basic 92 platform.

First up is the optic-ready slide. You’ll need an adapter plate, but Beretta offers plates for the RMR, Docter, DeltaPoint Pro, C-More, and ACRO footprints. Your favorite pistol red dot should bolt right up.
Next up is Inox, Beretta’s identifier for stainless steel components. The 92X RDO Inox comes with a stainless steel slide and barrel that offer a distinct look and – more importantly – improved resistance to harsh environments.
Another perk is the Vertec frame. It features a straight backstrap instead of the typical arch, and thinner grip scales. That’s welcome news to shooters who complain about the grip size of the 92FS. It also brings a beveled magazine well and a Picatinny accessory rail so you can mount a pistol light.

Another noteworthy feature is that ambidextrous thumb safety – or what looks like a safety, anyway. It’s actually Beretta’s G-decocker, which drops the hammer and sets up a double-action trigger pull. The idea is that you won’t accidentally engage the safety when racking the slide on a speed reload.
Since this pistol is intended for competitive stages as well as home defense, Beretta also shortened the trigger reset and enlarged the magazine release button.

“The 92X RDO Inox is built for those who want reliability they can trust in any environment,” Broxton Carlile, Beretta USA’s pistol product manager said in a release. “From the range to real-world defense, this pistol delivers performance, precision, and durability in a sleek, modern package.”
Beretta lists an MSRP of $999 for the 92X RDO Inox.
