Editor’s Note:

Ruger changed the game with the introduction of the affordable Precision Rifle. Built to be an accurate long-range rifle out of the box, the RPR has all the features to make that a reality. Cold hammer-forged 5R rifled barrels, a free-floated handguard, detachable SR25 or AICS magazines, a fully adjustable and folding stock, and a hybrid muzzle brake give you everything you need to make those long shots. With multiple chamberings available, you can find the right Precision Rifle for you.

By The Numbers - Ruger Precision Rifle

Accuracy
Again, the gun is more accurate than it has any right to be. The only things that are going to beat this gun definitively are going to cost twice to three times as much, and will probably need to be custom ordered.
Reliability
It’s a precision bolt action rifle. There’s nothing on it that’s going to fail you.
Customization
If you want to change it, you can. The chassis system and the overall design means that just about everything is either adjustable or replaceable.
Ergonomics
The rifle is…heavy. Not quite overly so, but it’s definitely not a lightweight hunting rifle. Other than that though, either the rifle will be comfortable, or you can quickly adjust/swap parts to make it comfortable for yourself.

Daniel Defense Delta 5 Pro

“If you want a Daniel Defense bolt rifle then we recommend the Delta 5 Pro. It’s a great rifle and it looks good to boot. It produced sub-half MOA with 3-round groups and solidly under MOA with 5-shot groups. We consider that a win. While not the elitist PRS shooter, it’s a great out of the box solution.” — David Lane

final verdict

“The Ruger Precision Rifle is an affordable, highly accurate rifle, which makes it a great starter gun for new precision shooters. It can be a little on the heavy side, but there is a good reason it’s such a popular rifle. Overall, I think Ruger hit it out of the park with the original RPR, and while the Gen III model might not light the world on fire like the Gen I did, but it certainly has enough little improvements and changes to still be worth the cost of admission if you don’t already have a precision rifle.”  –Matthew Collins
