The coolest of the FN 509 series and this gun sure has an “edge.”  The FN 509 LS Edge is the ultimate tactical model with all the bells and whistles. All you really need is an optic and light to go with it.

The FN 509 Tactical is based on the pistol FN submitted for the US Army Modular Handgun Trials. While it is very much like the standard 509, the Tactical model features an optics-ready slide that allows for the low-profile mounting of red dots. Also included are tritium night sights, with the rear sights sporting protective wings to help avoid any damage during hard use. Present is a 4.5-inch cold hammer-forged threaded barrel. Controls are fully ambidextrous and the 509 Tactical comes with one 17-round and one 24-round magazine. Like the base model the 509 Tactical shines as a full-size duty pistol.

The FN 509C is one of our writer’s (Johnny B) carry gun. According to Johnny, this thing “runs like a Swiss sewing machine.”

The FN 509 Compact Tactical is a smaller, more compact version of the FN 509 Tactical. With a 4.3-inch threaded barrel and a shorter grip with factory 12-round magazines, it’s more concealable than its larger brethren while still packing a punch.

Glock 19 is the most proven compact semi-automatic handgun on the market today. Chambered in 9mm Luger, the Glock 19 is a versatile compact version of the standard Glock option.  It’s great for use as a backup weapon, concealed carry, or service pistol.  The Gen 5 in particular has made some great improvements which include an ambidextrous slide stop lever, flared mag-well, and upgraded barrel design, just to name a few. The G19 has been a favorite amongst police agencies and military units and for good reasons.
