The FN Five Seven pistol has been around for over 20 years, but now it looks like the company is stepping out of the 1990s.
In a surprise move, FN announced a new pistol — the FN Six-SeveN.

The gun, which is essentially a rechambered Five-Seven MK3 MRD, fires FN’s newly-developed 6.7x28mm round.
FN appears to be moving away from the 5.7 cartridge in favor of the 6.7, leaving many firearms enthusiasts confused as to why.

“To put it plainly, the Five-Seven just wasn’t passing the vibe check anymore,” said FN spokesperson Chuck Sneed during a live press conference on FN’s decision to field the Six-SeveN.
“Look, we understand that there are plenty of Five-SeveN stans out there, but trust us, this new cartridge is bussin,” he further stated.

A member of the live audience asked what the new gun and cartridge are for and why FN decided to develop them.
“You can kind of use the Six-SeveN in every situation, you know what I am saying? It is hard to explain what it is exactly, but it just works all the time.”
It appears that the press conference left media members and attendees with more questions than answers.
Sneed later clarified that the pistol and cartridge are marketed toward the younger shooting crowd and that “Not everyone is going to get it.”

He further explained that FN, quote, “Worked with specific musicians and influencers to develop a gun and cartridge that is goated with the sauce.”
The Six-SeveN pistol is set to launch on June 7th later this year.
