Attend a shooting course or stop by a trailhead during hunting season, and you’re going to see Garmin watches – lots of them.
They’re powerful tools, and the Garmin Instinct 3 is here just in time for summer with two tactical trim levels and some seriously good features.
Let’s see if one of these needs to be on your wrist!

To my knowledge, the Garmin employees responsible for improving battery life do not get nights, weekends, or holidays off.
The Garmin Instinct 3 Solar Tactical can run for 40 days in smartwatch mode, 150 hours in max battery GPS mode, and 100 days in battery saver watch mode.
And that’s all without solar charging. If you give this watch enough sunlight, it’ll just run forever.

This generation debuts Garmin’s rucking activity, which includes the weight of your pack (or plate carrier, I don’t know your life) when calculating your physical exertion.
You still get multi-band satellite navigation, but this time with SatIQ technology that provides more accurate positioning while drawing less power from your battery.
For the first time, all Tactical-series watches come with Applied Ballistics software installed. You will have to pay to unlock them, though.

As always, you’ll get tactical features like stealth mode, night vision mode, dual grid coordinates, a kill switch, and a flashlight that provides white or green light. Health, sports, and communication functions are still there, too.
Want more? If you can do without unlimited battery life, the new Instinct 3 AMOLED Tactical is a sight to behold.

It shares all the same features, but only comes in a 50-millimeter case size and gets Garmin’s stunning AMOLED display. If you’ve been coveting the Garmin Tactix but don’t want to shell out the big bucks, your time is now.
The first time I saw an AMOLED Garmin was in midday, looking through campfire smoke – and it still caught my eye. These displays are incredibly sharp, bright, and colorful.

Garmin lists a starting MSRP of $499.99 for the Instinct 3 Tactical Edition.
