If there’s one thing that gets every shooter – young, old, experienced, new, tactical, old-school – excited, it’s the release of a new rimfire rifle. We all love ‘em!
Savage just dropped a pair of rimfire rifles and three cartridge options, so there’s a lot to celebrate.
The Savage Revel lever-action rifle comes in .17 HMR, .22 LR, and .22 WMR. Oh, and it’s a takedown rifle, too.

Savage calls the Revel “a classic, American-made, lever-action, rimfire rifle – reimagined with a sleek, modern take.”
It’s a full-length model with an 18-inch barrel over a conventional tube magazine. The oversized loop is good for larger hands or shooting with gloves on (hey, tin cans don’t hibernate for the winter).
On top of that medium-contour barrel is a set of no-frills adjustable iron sights, just like most of us probably learned to shoot with.
The stock is made from Turkish walnut, and the black aluminum receiver is drilled and tapped for scope mounts.
The Revel has a trick up its sleeve, too. There are two take-down pins that let you separate the receiver from the barrel, magazine, and forend without tools.
That makes it easier to store, transport, and clean. If you need a backpack gun for your survival bag, this isn’t a bad idea.
There’s an up-spec version of the Revel, too.
The Revel DLX raises the bar with M-LOK slots cut into a more heavily contoured walnut stock, a hooded front sight, a pistol grip buttstock, and textured sections for a better grip.
Savage is shipping .22 LR Revels now. The .17 HMR and .22 WMR versions are scheduled to become available in the spring of 2025.
Savage lists an MSRP of $439 for the Revel and $539 for the Revel DLX.

No threaded muzzle? C'mon Savage
No sling swivel studs
What are the M-Lok slots on the stock for? I’m genuinely confused.
