Have you embraced fanny pack life yet? Now might be the time!
I’ve been using the brand-new Agilite Emergence CCW fanny pack, and it’s earned a spot in my regular carry rotation.
Let’s get to know this new bag and check out the little details that make it stand out in an increasingly crowded market.

The dedicated CCW compartment has plenty of room for a compact pistol and a holster.
A Springfield Hellcat Pro, Vortex Defender-CCW, and Tenicor Certum3 fit with lots of room to spare. My larger carry setup – a Glock 45, Trijicon RMR, Streamlight TLR-7, and Tenicor Velo Lux – was just barely too big. If it had factory sights instead of suppressor-height irons, it would clear the zipper.

The Emergence comes with Agilite’s own holster strap. This one uses not one, but three layers of hook-and-loop straps to fill out the hooks on your holster the same way a gun belt would. It’s the best retention strap I’ve used with a CCW bag.
Agilite also took steps to make the draw process smooth and fast. Instead of relying on zipper pulls, they included a large pull tab that you can mount on the bag’s loop panel in either top corner, depending on which hand you want to use, and slips through a loop to add a second layer of security.
Give it a good, hard rip, and the bag pops right open.
The main compartment is simple and customizable, with a loop panel where you can add accessories like magazine or tourniquet holders. I was able to use this compartment to create a basic first aid kit, with room to spare.
I really appreciate the hook for securing car keys; don’t want to lose those while you’re rummaging around.
For small things like your wallet or a few credit cards, there’s a small zippered compartment up front.

With the combination of a compact pistol and trauma kit, the Emergence was loaded down but very comfortable – it’s one of the more supportive fanny packs I’ve tested.
I’ve started using the Emergence instead of an IWB holster when I’m working in the desert because it lets me package everything I need in a bag that’s ready to grab and go when I hit the door.
During one session, I set up targets several hundred yards out, climbed up rock formations to get into unconventional shooting positions, and did a bunch of shooting with various hunting rifles. I didn’t even feel the Emergence on my waist, and it never got in the way.
It’s a little tactical looking for EDC duty around town, but that’s really the only knock against it. For shooting, hiking, hunting, or staying prepared on the road, it’s a home run.
Agilite lists an MSRP of $79.90 for the Emergence.
