About a decade ago, we all had to watch from the sidelines as Sig Sauer competed for a Joint Special Operations Command contract with the Low-Visibility Assault Weapon, or LVAW. In the near future, you’ll be able to get your hands on something very similar: the Sig Sauer MCX-LTAW.

It’s a mashup of some new parts and some existing components. Let’s break it all down so you can add it to your wishlist.

Alphanumeric naming can be tricky (why not just call it the Black Mamba and go all-in on the vibes?), so here’s what all those letters mean:

  • MCX: Sig’s rifle-caliber modular platform characterized by a short-stroke piston and dual recoil springs.
  • LT: Ambidextrous controls.
  • AW: A throwback to the LVAW.

So, as you can see, this is basically a Gucci’d-up SIg Sauer MCX-LT. In addition to the ambidextrous controls, the MCX-LTAW features an old-school angled pistol grip, two-stage match trigger, and a suppressor-friendly handguard for that ultra-cool tucked look.

The MCX-LTAW is chambered for .300 Blk and comes with one third-gen Magpul magazine.

There are three versions to choose from. The most accessible are a pistol with a brace and faux suppressor, and an SBR with a stock and faux suppressor. The big dog is an SBR with a stock, a Sig Sauer SQX suppressor, a Romeo4T-Pro red dot, and an Arisaka handstop, indexer, light mount, and QD mount.

According to Sig reps at Sig Next 2026, we can expect pricing to be around $2,700 for the pistol and SBR, and roughly $3,700 for the suppressed SBR.
