We’re big fans of Safariland’s OWB duty holsters. They’re built like tanks and keep pistols super secure.
Now, there’s a more EDC-friendly version for times when you don’t want to wear a full battle belt. Is the new Safariland Gravity going to be your next OWB holster?

So far, this holster is available for popular Glock, Shadow Systems, Sig Sauer, Springfield Armory, Taurus, and Wilson Combat pistols. Safariland has a habit of expanding product lines to support more pistols over time, so keep an eye out if you don’t see yours listed on the website.
Unlike Safariland’s heavy-duty 6000-series, 7000-series, Safarivault, and Ballast, the Gravity relies on a simple trigger guard detent to hold your pistol in place. That makes it much smaller and lighter, with no active locking mechanisms.
It’s still adjustable, though. You can tighten or loosen the holster’s retention with a single Phillips-head screw. Cant (forward/rearward angle on your hip) is adjustable, too.

This is one OWB holster that’s CCW-friendly as long as you have a jacket or flannel to throw over it.
It ships with Safariland’s paddle attachment, which lets you wear it independently from your belt. I’ve used this attachment with a Safariland 7TS and a 1911, and it was perfectly comfortable.
Since it uses Safariland’s standard three-hole mounting pattern, you can swap the paddle out for other attachments. Take your pick from belt loops, MOLLE Locking System, or a Quick Locking System that lets you swap out holsters without removing your belt.

The holster is made from rigid SafariLaminate and comes with your choice of durable Cordura wrapping in black, gray, khaki, OD green, Multicam, Multicam Black, tiger stripe, or M81 woodland camouflage.
Not familiar with all those? Don’t worry, we have a guide to the Best Camo Patterns.
Simplicity keeps the price down, too. The Gravity is a fraction of the cost of a duty holster, so you don’t have to carry a gun for a living to justify buying it.

Safariland lists an MSRP of $65 for the Gravity.
I haven’t gotten my hands on this holster yet, but to my eye, it looks like an OWB version of the Safariland Species I use for concealed carry. That’s been comfortable, tough, and easy on metal slide finishes. I suspect this one will perform just as well.
