Sig Sauer recently kicked off a flurry of new product announcements at the company’s Sig Sauer NEXT event.

There are new pistols, rifles, optics, some very interesting hybrid ammunition, and a personal defense weapon that looks like it came straight out of a sci-fi movie.

The Sig Sauer P320-FLUX Legion is a tiny PDW that offers top-shelf components, a high-tech modular chassis, and far more capability than you’d get from a base P320 – or any other conventional pistol, for that matter.

Specs

  • Caliber: 9mm
  • Action: Semi-automatic
  • Capacity: 30+1
  • Overall length: 10.9"
  • Barrel length: 3.9"
  • Weight: 49 oz
  • Optics-ready: Yes (Picatinny rail)
  • MSRP: $1,649

Features

  • Flux chassis system with a collapsible brace
  • Slide-integrated compensator
  • 30+1 capacity and a built-in magazine caddy

Sig laid the foundation for this PDW with a fire control unit, slide, and barrel from the P320-AXG Legion.

On its own, this setup offers a flat-faced, skeletonized trigger and an integrated slide compensator that reduces recoil by a claimed 25% compared to the base P320.

The Raider X chassis comes courtesy of Flux Defense, a Utah-based company that specializes in high-end upgrades and modifications for Sig Sauer pistols. You can buy it on your own (if you can find one in stock, that is).

These are hot-ticket items and getting one pre-assembled from Sig might be the way to go.

This grip module features a flared magazine well, a Picatinny accessory rail, a spare magazine holder, and a folding pistol brace. A non-reciprocating Picatinny optic mount extends over the slide so you can mount a full-size red dot and maintain a quality sight picture between shots.

The P320-FLUX Legion comes with two 30-round magazines and can store the spare in the chassis for a total of 60 rounds — no magazine pouch is required.

If that doesn’t sound like a perfect grab-and-go response pistol, I don’t know what does.

This isn’t the first PDW or micro-PDW. It isn’t even the first to use the P320 platform. It is the first one you can buy from Sig Sauer as a factory firearm, though, which suggests that someone in Newington, New Hampshire, sees promise in this market segment.

Firearms like the P320-FLUX Legion are light, small, and soft-recoiling. This would be a perfect backpack, home defense, or truck gun because it’s more portable than a carbine or PCC but easier to shoot accurately than a pistol.

MSRP for the P320-FLUX Legion is $1649.99.
