High-tech gun safes are nothing new. We’ve used all kinds of fingerprint scanners and RFID locks, but the Hornady Vexis is different.
The new line of biometric gun safes from Hornady uses the veins in your palm to identify you, unlock the safe, and deploy the pistol drawer before you even touch it.

The safe’s infrared scanners work by reading the veins inside the palm of your hand. Not only does that mean you can open the safe before you even reach it, but it also means the scanner isn’t affected by contaminants on your skin or surface-level injuries.
Vexis can store up to 10 unique palm scans, enough for five people to program both hands.
And yes, all your personal biometric data is secure. Vexis safes do not contain wireless communication capability, so there’s no way for anyone to gain unauthorized access to your information.
The system also includes a digital keypad and physical keys as backups.
The understated display looks like an alarm clock when not in use, and the safe features a USB charging port for real nightstand convenience.
