This new pistol is very similar to the carry-focused HD C4X. Both feature a 4-inch barrel and Staccato’s barrel-mounted compensator. In addition to diverting gas upward to reduce muzzle rise, the non-reciprocating unit keeps more mass still at the end of the barrel to reduce felt recoil.
The difference is a full-size frame that makes room for 18-round magazines. The compact slide/full-size grip combo is probably my favorite configuration in the pistol market. It’s the same one used by the Glock 45 and Springfied Echelon 4.0 FC.

The slide is cut for Staccato’s HOST mounting system, which lets you use just about any pistol red dot you want.
Other HD-series features include the deletion of the grip safety, the addition of a mechanical firing pin block, improved ergonomics, and steel Glock-pattern magazines.
The magazine release is reversible, but you don’t have to do the job yourself. The good people at Staccato will set yours up on whichever side you prefer at the factory.

Staccato lists a starting MSRP of $3,599 for the HD P4X. The preferred package, which adds a tritium front sight, flared magazine well, and one more magazine, costs $3,799. The Premium package adds vented serrations and comes with four mags for $3,999.
