Editor’s Note: The Kel-Tec P17 is a compact and easy-to-shoot .22LR pistol with a solid capacity of 16+1. While the gun has a few oddities, and they can be a bit ammo picky, they can be frequently found under the $200 mark. These are a great value, especially if you catch them on sale.

By The Numbers
Accuracy
While we got good groupings, the gun did shoot notably high, even with the rear sight fully adjusted.
Reliability
When running high velocity ammo, it was solid. Reliability with any other type of ammo was hit and miss at best.
Customization
It does have an accessory rail and you can purchase an OEM optics-ready slide if you wish. There isn't too much else on the market for the P17.
Ergonomics
The overall feel and control scheme is pretty good. However, the slide lock/release could be better.
Value
At $150-200, the value is hard to beat.
