Shooting with thermal optics is fun, but it can be awfully hard on the wallet.
Clip-on thermal optics are one of the best ways to keep costs down, because they let you use your primary rifle and optic instead of starting a separate build.
If that sounds like a winning strategy to you, check out the new ATN Tico 6. I have the scoop on the exciting new thermal with a surprisingly budget-friendly price tag.

ATN’s sixth-generation core update is internal. More advanced sensors and processors create an image that’s sharper, faster, and clearer than before.
You can control everything with three buttons or access features with the Connect 6 app. That’s also a great way to share video footage or stream live to other devices. Since the computer is always working, it’s able to detect the recoil of a shot and automatically start recording 10 seconds in the past.
The Tico 6 runs off an 18650 battery, and you can hook it up to USB-C auxiliary power to keep it operational longer.

As always, there’s a suite of color palettes so you always have an optimal view with the super-rich OLED display.
There are three ways to use the Tico 6. You can mount it to a Picatinny rail with the included quick-detach mount, or clip it to the end of a compatible scope with an adapter (sold separately). It’s also usable as a handheld thermal.
This versatile setup lets you locate targets by using it as a standalone monocular, move into position, and clip it to your rifle before engaging.

Considering all the capabilities packed into the Tico 6, it looks hard to get into the thermal shooting game more affordably.
ATN lists a starting MSRP of $1,095 for the Tico 6. There are two other options with increasingly advanced sensors, priced at $2,195 and $3,895.
