Pew Pew Meter

Editor’s Note: The Mossberg 590M Shockwave brought high capacity to short shotguns. Even though it only has an overall length of 26.3 inches, the 590M Shockwave boasts an impressive capacity of 10+1 thanks to its magazine design. Aside from the magazine, it has all the standard 590 features, including twin action bars and an ambidextrous tang safety.  Everything is rounded out with a 15-inch heavy-walled barrel. The 590M Shockwave is great for those that want to cut down on length without sacrificing capacity.

By The Numbers

Accuracy
This gun clearly isn't meant for long range shooting, but it will get the job done.
Reliability
The presence of a magazine doesn't seem to hinder the legendary reliability of the 590 at all.
Customization
Its a Mossberg 590 and at the end of the day you can swap and change parts at random and as often as you want. The 590 and 500 by extension is one of the most popular shotguns in the world, and there are tons of parts for it.
Ergonomics
The regular shockwave is already awkward to shoot, and a wide magazine amplifies this issue even more.

FINAL VERDICT

"The original Shockwave looks dainty compared to the 590M Shockwave. With all that extra beefiness, though, you get a great deal more capacity. The reliability and customization are stellar and it’ll hit what you point it at. It might not be the prettiest or most ergonomic “shotgun,” but it does a great job." - Travis Pike
