Editor’s Note: Many AR-9s are pushed to market as cheaper alternatives to more expensive pistol-caliber carbines, but not the Angstadt Arms UDP-9. Despite still being a direct-blowback firearm, these feature a much higher build quality with some excellent features like a flared magwell and last-round bolt hold open. If you are looking for a reliable and accurate PCC that has AR-like controls and uses common Glock magazines, this is a great option.

By The Numbers
Accuracy
Although we didn't push the UDP-9 past 30 yards, the accuracy we got was impressive.
Reliability
The reliability is great. We did find a minor inconvenience in that magazines with 17 or more rounds need to be loaded with one less round to avoid an issue chambering the first round - it doesn't like 100% full magazines.
Customization
Standard AR features like an M-LOK rail, threaded barrel, and Picatinny top rail make accessorizing very easy. The UDP-9 can also uses standard AR braces and stocks, grips, and is compatible with several AR triggers.
Ergonomics
It offers the familiarity of the AR platform, but the brace and shorter grip do limit comfort a little.
Value
The price reflects the premium build quality. However it only comes with one magazine and the packaging is lackluster.
