Let’s cut to the chase. This is not the first big-bore, suppressor-ready, coyote brown AR pistol to hit the scene in recent months. It’s very clearly a riff on the $4,399 Q Boombox.

The prices are worlds apart, though, and we couldn’t be more excited about that.

The Palmetto State Armory Mixtape is probably going to go down as the hottest AR pistol of 2025, and it’s going to be surprisingly affordable.

Like the Boombox, the Mixtape (I see what you did there) is a suppressor host from the drawing board. PSA announced that it will come chambered for .300 BLK and .338 ARC, which is Hornady’s rival to 8.6 BLK.

The Mixtape we saw at SHOT Show 2025 was a .338 ARC version with an eight-inch barrel that’s optimized for shooting suppressed.

It was wrapped in shades of coyote brown and FDE, although I wouldn’t be surprised if PSA throws us a few more color options down the road.

The Mixtape falls under PSA’s Sabre product family, so performance-oriented upgrades come standard out of the box. These include a B5 Systems pistol grip, an SB Tactical brace, a Radian charging handle, and a Reptilia handguard.

In-house perks include a Sabre trigger and PSA’s E4 bolt with dual ejectors for improved reliability.

The SB Tactical brace is a quality item and it also makes the Mixtape a pistol rather than a short-barreled rifle in the eyes of the ATF (at the moment) so you can skip the pesky NFA paperwork.

Palmetto State Armory hasn’t released pricing or availability yet, but we expect an MSRP of roughly $1,000 for the Mixtape. That would put it in line with the rest of PSA’s Sabre products.
